Rollout and Ongoing Developments
Comeunity will partner with diverse organizations to establish inclusive unity with all community organizations. The Safe Space 1st Program aims to achieve its objectives, mission, and vision through a multiphase rollout plan.
Phase 1: Partnerships-Unity:
- Development of partnerships with organizations to discover their goals and to develop a framework of mutual expectations.
- Conducting risk and liability assessments pertaining to the discovery in determining goals and expectations with our partners
- Creation of the Safe Space 1st Community Committee:
The Safe Space 1st Community Committee will consist of partner groups, service professionals community leaders, business experts, and representation from diverse community groups
Phase 2: Framework-Action:
- Development of Guidelines for being deemed a safe space for certain classifications of space.
- Identifying Community spaces by their type of risk factor and specific needs
- Defining Data Collection Requirements and identification of key performance indicators
- Pilot of first community Designated Safe Spaces
- Baseline Subject matter to be released for the Safe Space 1st Training Portal
- Suggested Framework for the management of space for specific classifications of space.
- Personal safety services and other designated training as required by the needs and risk factors of spaces.
- Development of the Safe Space 1st app- Location services tool to locate safe spaces within areas.
- Re launch of the Block Parent chapter in Durham Region.
Phase 3: Alignment:
- Expansion of space Classifications
- Expansion of Designated Safe Spaces
- Expansion on subject matter released within the Safe Space 1st Training Portal
- Collection of data to assess the quality of safe space
- Deeper assessments on risk and liability (what is the liability to doing this program and having any involvement)
- Launch specific to spaces classified as business spaces.
Phase 4: Official Safe Space 1st Community:
- Develop and implement Continuity Plan
- Launch for spaces classified as emergency spaces and any remaining support spaces.
- Assessment of training, partnerships and community involvement recommendations sent for review to the Safe Space 1st Community committee.
- Launch of Safe Space 1st hot line
- Safe Space 1st Community signage displayed throughout communities.
