Safe Space Advisory System

This system is designed to flex according to increasing or decreasing risk levels, as assessed by the Safe Space Advisory Committee.

Essential and non-essential businesses may continue to operate. 

All businesses are required to implement safety measures regarding sanitation, PPE and social distancing.

Maximum building occupancy based on 16-25 sq. feet per person

Emergency services: Fire Services, law enforcement agencies, public safety agencies.
Health care services: emergency medical
services (doctors offices, pharmacies and hospitals) ambulances, home care services, retirement homes, long term care and independent care facilities, biomedical Facilities.
Businesses that provide essential Services for others: food banks, shelters, non-profits, community housing, supportive housing, Children’s Aid Societies, Professional and social services (lawyers, paralegals, accountants, translators), Funeral Homes and crematoriums.
Finance: Financial institutions, insurance companies, tax companies, accountant.
Automotive: Auto repair Services, trucking service centres, vehicle licensing centres, rental and leasing services, taxi services, gas stations.
Animal care: veterinary services, pet stores, animal hospitals.
Food: Grocery stores, restaurants that offer drive-thru and delivery options, food processing, agriculture, live stock.
Logistics & Supply Chain Operations: Warehousing, storage, distribution, and supply chain-related operations.
Child Care Facilities: Child care centers and daycares.
Environmental Services and waste collection: Garbage collection, waste collection, operation of landfills, and hazardous waste disposals.
Construction: Road work construction, road maintenance, and essential home repairs.

Media and technology: media broadcasting, telecommunications providers and services operation and delivery- (phone, internet, radio, cellphones).

Extended Health Care: Chiropractors, registered massage therapists, physiotherapists, dentists, optometrists (except in emergency services).

Entertainment: Concert venues, malls and outlet stores, Theatres, theme parks, zoos, casinos, night clubs, bars and pubs.

Recreation: Fitness facilities, gyms, recreation centres, sporting events.

Personal Services: Nail salons, hair salons, beauty shops, photo studios.

Essential and non-essential businesses may continue to operate as per level 1.

More frequent monitoring of Safety standards as outlined in Level 1. 

Higher vigilance with respect to checking building capacities, cleaning schedule. Maximum building occupancy based on 16-25 sq. feet per person.  Safe space management includes exterior of building.

Management provides ongoing assessment of risk to employees, customers using safety standards outlined in Level 1.
